Hawk's By Design

Well, after quite a long break, I’m back!

A lot of crazy stuff went down at the end of last year. And…I just really didn’t feel like writing for a while. Then I decided to switch domains, coming back to my original portfolio domain from college. Really the only reason for it is that I didn’t want to shell out $40 for a name domain.

So, here we are. The website is still the same, just some slight modifications to make it a bit better. I was going to redesign the whole thing, but meh, maybe later.

Anyway, what we’re here to discuss is ANIME!

The winter season is upon us, my friends, and my goodness this should be interesting. In a stark contrast of last season, there are very few sequels this time around (besides, of course, Haikyuu!!)

Let’s get rolling.

Somali to Mori no Kamisama

Somali hanging from the arm of Golem – Somali and the Forest Spirit

This is probably the one that caught my attention the most this season, and I’m excited to get started on it.

Also known as Somali and the Forest Spirit, this anime focuses on a world where humans are pretty much extinct. The entire world is ruled by spirits, goblins, and whatever creatures your mind can conjure.

A golem, watchman of the forest, meets a little girl, and this anime follows the story of their unfolding relationship.

I’m excited to see a show that has a world built around other creatures, rather than humans, and not be an isekai. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out!

Darwin’s Game

The main characters of Darwin’s Game

King’s Game?…Is that you?

This anime really reminds me of King’s Game, which isn’t a good thing. Like. At all. That anime was shit. But…nevertheless, I’m pretty excited to see how this show turns out.

From what I can gather, this guy receives an invite to play a mobile game which turns out to be a battle royale of death. Oh, and he and all who play get some sort of special powers. Sounds nuts, right?

For better or worse, I’m in. This could absolutely turn out to be a hell of a cluster of an anime, but I’m willing to take that chance. Also, it seems pretty popular, so it can’t be too bad, right?

…Right?

Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!

Sayaka, Midori, and Tsubame – Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken

I’m going to be honest with you…I have no idea what this anime is actually about, but it caught my attention. According to MAL, it’s a trio of friends that are trying to create an anime? The crazy art style is what got me pulled into it.

From what I saw, it looks like it’s going to be a crazy ride. I’m still not even sure what all was going on when I saw the trailer.

It’s a little outside my normal genre box, but oh well, should be fun.

Itai no wa Iya nano de Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu.

All of the main characters in BOFURI

Klein?! Is that you buddy?! Are you finally getting the screen time that you deserve?!?! I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!

Also, the main character resembles Yuuki, and her friend looks exactly like Silica.

Ehem.

Anyway. An anime about a VRMMO? You son of a bitch, I’m in. How can I say no after all this time? New World Online? Heck yeah, let’s do this.

So basically, this anime is about a girl that joins her friends playing a VRMMO but she’s such a noob that she drains all her points into defense so all she can do is carry around a giant shield.

…So Sword Art Online and Shield Hero had a drunken one night stand that birthed this anime? Sounds good. I’m down.

That’s All, Folks

There you have it. Sticking to my norm, I’m only following four anime this season. I could drop and/or pick some up later in the season, but who knows.

In addition to these anime, I’m still following My Hero Academia, and I’m super sad that Sword Art Online is on break for a little while.

I’m still trying to finish Ore wo Suki nano wa Omae dake ka yo, so there’s that too.

Also, I really need to watch Vinland Saga.

*sigh*

Thanks for reading, ya nerds.
